“Ixchel & Lonely Girl” is the follow up to Marinero’s Hella Love, his praised Hardly Art-debut (and love letter/grand farewell to his hometown, before relocating to Los Angeles where he is currently based). “Ixchel & Lonely Girl” is an ode to a friend and her daughter who’d gone through a difficult time. The song speaks to the unstoppable drive of maternal love, and the lengths mothers will go to for their children. Marinero shares, “I just know that there’s nothing stronger in the universe than my mother’s love.”
